I'm preparing for my trip to Cali. It's been a while since I've been "home", and I'm really excited to be headed west. I'm realizing that, after leaving several years ago, there are only a few people that I really NEED to see....is that awful to say? I mean, I lived there 1o years! How is it that you can share such formidable years with friends & then be ok not to see them? It kind of makes me feel bad, like I'm being disloyal. Yes, we all have our faults, but I'd like to think that loyalty is not one of mine. When you have so few hours, how is one to choose who is MOST important in your life? Is it really possible? Doesn't each person fill a certain, little spot? I hope so... and, I think I've come to terms with that. I HOPE that I can fill a certain spot for my friends. How awful to not, right? I mean, to just be on the fence about everything...or to be neither here, nor there? Ambivalent? I want to be the kind of person who represents something- who stands for something! I know I've got a ways to go but I sure hope that I am headed in the right direction...love me, or hate me, may you know who I am.

Here's hoping that I can fill a certain, little spot in this world...cuz honestly, that is all I dream to do. To my friends, who have made a special impact on my life, thank you. Cheers to the next 10 years, and all of the new discoveries it may bring.

A little melodramatic right now, I know, whatevs (see above).

New music soon...

xjen

Cutting Down on the White Noise, One Annual Blog @ a Time!

Happy Spring!

Can you still call it a blog if it only happens once a year? Damn, I better make this good.

Did you ever get the feeling that something is doing a number on you? That life as you know it is changing right before your eyes? I totally have that feeling right now.

Let me do the annual Christmas card type update for you now, so we can get reacquainted in 2010. Let’s see…I’m an Auntie now, to another precious, baby girl named Emmery Quinn. I MARRIED a wonderful guy in March (!), and I’m working on a new record as we speak.

On a sadder note, I’ve seen a lot of hardship here lately with the floods hitting TN, and even hitting a dear family member’s home (www.jenniferpaige.com/wilsonpike); and that has been truly heartbreaking. It’s happening all over town…too much going on in the world for people outside of TN to realize the severity. It’s bad… but, as people do, they survive. Somehow.

Many of you know that I moved from Los Angeles to Nashville, TN a few years back. It has been a big reason for the shift in me, I believe. It’s slower here. Kind of a kooky, little town, filled with striving Country artists everywhere, like the actors in LA. When I tell people I’m a singer here, I just wait for the standard reply from strangers, “That’s a tough business…hard to make it”. It cracks me up cuz they just assume you suck. It’s awesome! Poor actors, is this what you've been dealing with all these years? ;)

I’ve been experimenting musically, without parameters, trying on many different writing styles and letting whatever wants to come out creatively come out. I was such a youngster when my 1st single came out, and I’ve always been signed as a mainstream Pop artist; but I feel myself trying to break my own mold, and see where I land. I’m liking the process & I can’t wait to see which songs make the record. I’ve always found that if you do the work, the luck follows, and I’m counting on that this time.

All for now…go do something fabulous today!

If you'd like to say HI, send me a note to contact@jenniferpaige.com. I'd love to hear from you! I guess I'm learning what's important to me in these turbulent times. I didn't really have a grasp on America's appearance to others. But I began traveling a lot about 10 years ago, everywhere from China to Australia, Europe to Japan to Dubai to South Africa to every corner of the US, and well, almost most everywhere I can think of. I am really fortunate for that. What a huge awakening to be able to see how others live around globe. Definitely mind opening. What a beautiful world!

So, I would take my Dollar and buy lots of goodies for cheap because the Dollar was strong, and people told me how they couldn't wait to see America for the first time! And, I loved that. I remember going to a Lee Greenwood's (uh-huh, Lee Greenwood---stop judging me!) concert when I was a kid with my parents, and the US flag flying down as he sang "God Bless the USA". I mean, people were standing on their chairs screaming, and others crying with pride...what has happened? Now we have Americans on every street corner talking about the downfalls of America. And, spreading the hate and negativity all over the world. I imagine it must be the same around the globe...you guys are disappointed in your governments, too...right? I don't have to ask because I have always been fascinated by big business and government, so I always find myself in conversations like this when I am overseas. I know many of you are also disappointed in your governmental systems. History proves we all make mistakes at some point.

So, I always get a little perplexed by those who think they have all the answers in something as vast as Government. Unless you are Dick Cheney (Hi Dick!) reading this blog right now, you probably have no idea what is REALLY going on in America. It's like telling freakin' Bill Gates how to run Microsoft because you've gotten a few emails about Windows. Am I wrong here, Michael Moore? You obviously know. :-/

I believe, in the end, Americans should be true to America. Stop talking smack about your own country. That's like going to Christmas dinner and telling the whole family Cousin Sally had an abortion last week (no, I don't have a cousin Sally). Why make matters worse? Do something about it if you feel so strongly. That goes for all of us, no matter where we live. Let's educate ourselves as much as possible. And, if you find that your PC just doesn't cut it, buy a MAC (or, move to Switzerland). Small efforts make a difference.

And THAT is why I have decided to RUN FOR PRESIDENT!!! That's right! I know what you are thinking....it's sudden! BUT I am a spontaneous person, and 'by Golly' I can do it! I will NOT disappoint you! I will get some oil, create some jobs, lower taxes, health care for all...did I mention that it would all be free? I'm going to figure out how you old people can support yourselves since you won't have your Social Security or 401k's, make education affordable and reduce that gosh darn debt of ours. I tell you, I'm gonna ROCK as PRESIDENT. Vote for me, 2008! I am very well spoken, and I promise to always dress nice and talk sweet to foreigners.

God bless the USA!

Please tell me I'm not going crazy...and, neither am I! :)

Bye for now!
JP aka Jane Fonda

Very Superstitious

But, where the heck is the writing? Is a bird just a bird, or is there a message attached to everything that catches our attention in such a way? To ponder...

Any ideas?

Nice people

Do they really finish last?

My manager suggested that I include a little section on the new website where I would speak my mind about different random topics. I thought, what a great idea! It only took me a couple of days to realize he probably was just tired of hearing my opinion about things. :) I am not known for being shy to speak my mind.

So, this leads me to my first random thought. Does the 'nice guy' really finish last? We've all heard it before. I can speak from experience and say that as a female artist in the music industry, I would always prefer to just be cool and go with the flow...but I would be eaten alive! It seems, if you don't speak loudly, someone louder will speak for you.

I think that sucks. I want to prove this theory wrong, dammit. But maybe I'm not nice enough...??? Nice people should be rewarded with chocolate and cheese, and billions of dollars....no, make that billions of Euros!

Wonder if this is what my manager had in mind?...ha! :)

Welcome to the blog. Speak your minds!!!
